Fafa…

Fafa,

Today is your yurtzeit - my dear father-in-law Shalom Gurewicz. Who to me is “Fafa”.

I am grateful that I was and am part of your life. You taught me what to expect of myself. A standard you held by simply being you.

I am grateful for your guidance. It thought me how to be a better listener, to really understand another’s world and refrain from my agendas.

I am grateful to have seen you parent. To have seen you show up. It thought me how to be a better father and husband, to show up. To hold myself accountable and to also kindly hold others accountable. This fine balance of boundaries with absolute love.

I am grateful I have seen you support others. To have seen you show up for so many, spinning many plates yet with grace and ease. It thought me I can too, one day, slow down. Calm down.

And achieve more.

I am grateful for the walks, the talks, the support the absolute most humbling experience of once a while supporting you through conversations of going deeper. It thought me to give, to take, to lead with absolute humility.

I am grateful for your hugs. True daddy bear. I am grateful to have shred a tear. I am grateful to be in your life through this beautiful bond of being family and fathering your grandkids while it really all started before.

I am grateful you believed in me although I was not your world. It thought me how I am better then I even knew and how I can be and do better.

I miss talking to you.

I do feel you, we feel you in our home and in our life almost daily. Through tears and through laughter. We can hear you proud and at times clear guidance of the what, where and how of a growth minded life.

I appreciate you.

I love you.

May we forever rejoice with your beautiful smile. 💜
