I messed up…
[4-minute read]
There have been many times in my life when I've deeply regretted my choices. I knew I had messed up and understood that I would be paying the price for those mistakes. For example, about 20 years ago, I was driving a 15-passenger van on a side road in Staten Island, doing about 55 MPH on a narrow two-lane country road. The road was curving to the right, but there were no signs warning of the upcoming turn. I was following a friend, who was driving a smaller Honda at around 80 MPH just ahead of me.
As the road began to turn, I realized I had made a mistake. I watched my friend's car fail to make the turn at that speed and saw his car launch off the edge of the road in a dramatic, movie-style jump into a tree. His car ended up perched on top of the tree trunk—it was actually quite a hilarious and a meme-worthy scene. However, I knew I was heading straight toward him, and my only hope was to avoid crashing into his already shattered car so I don’t crush him.
Thankfully, all went well. Both vehicles were totaled and we were okay. We both learned a valuable lesson that day, and we had to work hard to repay the costs of that accident.
Other times in my life, I've found myself saying, "What in the world was I thinking?" Yet, I felt no regret. I understood that while the path ahead might be challenging, it is also healthy and necessary. These are those moments when we feel called to take a step forward, even when it's difficult and requires significant effort.
If you're a parent, have started your own business, or said yes to something good a little too quickly, you probably know what I mean. There's that "What in the world?" feeling, while also knowing deep down, "This is good."
My retreats are similar. Every time I launch one, I’m clear on the gift it offers while fully aware of the commitment required from me. It demands going the extra mile, showing up with open arms, checking myself, and putting in the effort to do the right thing. And through it all, I trust in the unknown, in others, and in Hashem.
I am humbled by the challenge and blessed with the opportunity.
My next retreat is set:
September 26th - 29th, 2024
Location: Swan Lake, NY
This retreat takes place the Shabbat before Rosh Hashanah on a breathtaking lakefront estate. It’s an ideal time to dive deep, reset, experience profound connection and joy, explore yourself through the medicine offered, and receive ongoing integration support from a phenomenal staff who are joining me to help you bring the work home and thrive.
If you feel called to make those wanted changes in your life and bring your dreams to reality, I would love to discuss this opportunity with you.
With much love and respect for your individual journey,
Motty
